Last week at the Recruitment Yarns conference in the beautiful city of Newcastle in NSW Australia, I spoke about personal leadership and mental toughness.
A question from the audience evolved into a group discussion about how to stay resilient through difficult situations and then start to rebuild. One account resonated. “It’s an act of defiance. When something like that happens I tell myself I won’t let them grind me down.”
The resolve and determination of that individual resonated with me. When the fog clears you only ever have yourself. You have to stand tall and resolve not to be beaten or overrun. They, which can be a situation or circumstances or actual people have let you down.
Draw a line in the sand and say “no more”. Fight for what you believe in. It is an act of defiance.
Don’t let them grind you down.
