In another post I wrote about resolve which is my own favourite mental toughness word, coupled with the adjective ‘resolute’. In this post I have listed the 10 most popular mental toughness words as voted by the people whom I coach to build a mentally stronger mindset.
To set our goal I ask my clients to frame their most desirable mental toughness mindset by choosing three mental toughness adjectives from a list of over 130 mental toughness words.
Below are the top 10 favourites and interestingly ‘confidence’ is the runaway winner and the characteristic that people covet most. Every client cited a desire to be confident as one of their top three mental toughness characteristics. Confidence is an important aspect of mental toughness both at a self esteem as well as a day to day positivity level.
Clients also expressed a desire to be mentally stronger through words such as ‘resilient’ and ‘strong’, which were second and third highest respectively.
All the words within the top 10 reflected mental fears and obstacles they wish to overcome and each word fitted within one or more of the MTQ48 4C’s framework of mental toughness we work with.
